You'll like the Nightlife in the Wildwoods!
Tourism Media Kit WILDWOODS, NJ - The nightlife in and around the Wildwoods is as diverse as the people who visit the resort. From waterfront restaurants with casual deck dining and reggae music to Irish pubs with authentic Celtic performers to sports bars, the Wildwoods seem to wake up when the sun goes down.

World-class entertainment in the Wildwoods is a tradition that dates back to the Big Band era when names like Dorsey (Jimmy and Tommy) and Guy Lombardo were common atop the resort's marquees.

The tradition continued through the '50s and '60s when Dick Clark brought his American Bandstand to the former Starlight Ballroom and the up-and-coming Bobby Rydell made the Wildwoods his summer home. Rydell's affection for Wildwood was so great that he recorded what has become the resort's anthem, 'Wildwood Days.'

Entertainment is still the mainstay of the Wildwoods after dark, with live performers and bands in many of the area's nightclubs. Although the Wildwoods have long been associated with Doo Wop, many other styles of music young and old have kept the Wildwoods' nightlife popular with visitors. Whether you're in the mood for hip-hop, oldies, Motown, alternative or Top 40's you're likely to find it in the Wildwoods' nightclubs.

Many of the area's bars and clubs remain open until the wee small hours of the morning, so even if you've spent a few hours on the Boardwalk or have taken the family out to dinner, there's still time to tuck the kids into bed and head out for a night of fun and excitement.

Perhaps the most popular night spots are those that have outside decks, overlooking the water. The casual, island atmosphere of these establishments situated along the harbor or bay always lends itself to great, relaxing times and refreshing libations like margaritas, bay breezes and daiquiris always go perfect in such a tranquil setting.

The area's Irish pubs and taverns have amazingly captured the same ambiance one would expect to find in County Cork, Ireland, complete with Irish folk songs and a full menu of imported ales and beers.

For more high-energy evenings, dance floors fill quickly in many of the nightclubs that cater to the 21- to 40-year-old set as disc jockeys spin the latest dance hits for those who can't sit still.

No matter what kind of mood you're in, the varied clubs, bars and restaurants in Wildwoods at night offer the music, ambiance and settings to appeal to all tastes.
