The southernmost barrier island off the coast of New Jersey.

GWTIDA, the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, was formed in July 1993 to consolidate the tourism economy of three creating municipalities. The umbrella organization of the Borough of Wildwood Crest, the City of Wildwood, and the City of North Wildwood, GWTIDA advertises and promotes the island as a vacation destination.

GWTIDA is also the operations and marketing arm of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, the owner of both the present and the Wildwoods Convention Center.

GWTIDA sponsors and supports island-wide events enhance and extend the traditional summer season. The Wildwoods host over 150 special events each year, including the Thunder on the Beach Monster Truck Race, the Wildwoods International Kite Festival, Boardwalk Family Nights and Friday Night Fireworks, two Boardwalk Classic Car Shows, the Irish Festival, and the Captain Kidd Pirate Weekend.
