Mummers String Band Saturday and Strutters Contest
Parades into the Wildwoods September 12

The day's FREE festivities will feature the top nine prize winners from the 2009 Philadelphia New Year's Day Mummers Parade strutting through the streets
of North Wildwood

The Wildwoods, NJ - The Mummers String Band Saturday and Strutters Contest will be strutting their way down Olde New Jersey avenue in North Wildwood on Saturday, September 12th brining the exhilaration and awe of a variety of different String Bands. If you have never seen the Mummers before you are in for an afternoon of pure enjoyment, the spectators can get an up-close view of the breathtaking costumes and intricate dance steps.

The excitement starts at 4 p.m. with the Mummers Strutters Contest where anyone can join in on the fun. Let the Mummers show you a step or two beforehand and then you can show off your strut.

The fun continues at 4:45 with the String Bands parading down Olde New Jersey Avenue. Don't miss the award-winning Fralinger String Band as they reenact their famous New Year's Day routine without the pressure of competition and of course minus the cold weather. About the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority

The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) was formed in 1993 to consolidate the tourism economy of its three founding municipalities: Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood. Additionally, the Authority funds, assists with and hosts more than 180 annual special events to enhance the visitor experience and extend the tourism season, including the Thunder On The Sand Race Series, Family Nights On The Boardwalk, Friday Night Fireworks, The New Jersey State Barbeque Championships and Anglesea Blues Festival, Classic Car Shows, the International Kite Festival, Irish and Italian Festivals and the National Marbles Tournament, among others.
