The Annual Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration is a Great Way to Spend the Day with Family and Friends

Wildwood, NJ - September 21, 2009 - The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host their annual Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration on Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th. The celebration will take place at two locations throughout the two day festival as the fun will flip flop between the Sunset Lake area and the Fern Road Fitness Park, where the event will highlight the beautiful views of Wildwood Crest's bay and beach fronts during the two-day FREE celebration. The street festival which unofficially says goodbye to the summer season will feature a variety of food and shopping vendors, activities for the entire family, live entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show!

The celebration begins Friday evening with a FREE live outdoor concert at Fern Road Fitness Park and Ocean Avenue, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., featuring the amazing sounds of one of the most popular party bands in the area, The Exceptions, known best for their song "Blue Eyed Soul." The Exceptions play a variety of music ranging from Motown, to rock and dance hits, sure to get the crowd moving! FREE parking for the show will be available two blocks south at Myrtle Road and Ocean Avenue. Spectators are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to the concerts.

The daytime portion of the celebration begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, where vendors lining the Sunset Lake area will be offering arts, crafts and a large variety of delicious food options. The event will have plenty of family fun including, karaoke, pony rides, a magic show, a dunk tank, face painting, moon bounce, and much more. Not to mention the live musical acts that will extend throughout the Sunset Lake area between two stages from 10:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m., featuring a variety of music by Earthdaddy, The Star Band, Ann Oswald Band, Pins and Needles and Michael James.

The nighttime portion of the festival on Saturday begins at 6:00 p.m. when the event changes location to Fern Road Fitness Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue, as the beachfront will serve as the backdrop for an evening of excitement. Live music continues at the Gazebo-by-the-Sea located at Rambler Road and Ocean Avenue with the sounds of The Nobody Band, starting at 6:00 p.m. playing classic rock and party music to get the crowd moving. And at 7:30 p.m. Bandstand, who will play two sets that evening will entertain the masses with pop, oldies and Motown. Later at 8:40 p.m. a special appearance by the Hegeman String Band, one of the amazing String Bands who performed in the New Year's Day Mummers Parade in Philadelphia, will march north on the Wildwood Crest bike path from the gazebo to Fern Road Park as they entertain the crowd. Then at 9:00 p.m. don't miss the incredible fireworks display followed by another wonderful performance by Bandstand to close out the celebration!
