The Wildwoods Named #1 Boardwalk in the Nation by FamilyVacationCritic.com
The Wildwoods, NJ - February 24, 2012 - The Wildwoods world-famous boardwalk was named the #1 Beach Boardwalk for Families in the nation by familyvacationcritic.com.

The website called the Wildwoods Boardwalk "one of the most popular and kitschiest boardwalks in the country." They went on to say that the Doo-Wop architecture evokes a nostalgic, honky-tonk atmosphere along the five-mile, free beach, and explained that the two-mile stretch of boardwalk has everything you could want, from funnel cakes to game houses and enough rides to Rival Disneyland.

"It's a great honor to be recognized as the #1 Beach Boardwalk for Families in the nation," said John Siciliano, Executive Director for the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA). "We owe this recognition to the hard work and determination of the hundreds of small business owners who bring their vision and innovation to the myriad of shops, attractions, arcades, games and eateries that together make the Wildwoods' Boardwalk second to none. And we also owe our gratitude to the millions of families that come to enjoy all we have to offer - from the boardwalk and beach, to the great events, shopping, eateries and dining. Everyone at this destination works tirelessly in making the Wildwoods one of the country's most popular family vacation destinations, and we are grateful that our work is paying off for our visitors."

The Wildwoods have also been recognized as one of TripAdvisor's top three "Travelers' Choice Family Award-Winning U.S. Amusement Park Destinations" and one of National Geographic Traveler's "Top 10 U.S. Boardwalks" in 2011; Smarter Travel's "Best Beach Town In America For a Classic Experience" in 2010; and one of Forbes Traveler's "Top Ten American Boardwalks" in 2009.

The Wildwoods are also home to "New Jersey's Best Beaches" as awarded by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium in 2011 and 2010; they are currently vying to defend that title again in 2012. The Wildwoods host over 180 festivals and events throughout the year, and have the largest concentration of mid-century "Doo-Wop" architecture in the country.
