The Wildwoods Dog Beach Named Among Best 'Dog Friendly Beaches' in the Nation by USA TODAY
The Wildwoods, NJ – October 18, 2016 – The Wildwoods Dog Beach was recently named one of the top 10 ‘Best Dog Friendly Beaches’ in the 2016 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest sponsored by USA TODAY.

USA TODAY 10Best teamed up with BringFido.com to nominate the 20 most dog-friendly beaches in the nation. The Wildwoods Dog Beach received the 2nd most votes, ranking it #2 overall in the nation.

“It’s an honor to be named among the best in the nation in anything,” said John Siciliano, executive director/CFO of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority (GWTIDA). “Many families consider their four-legged friends family members and insist on traveling with their pets, so the Wildwoods make it possible for the entire ‘family’ to vacation together by offering a number of pet-friendly hotels-motels and a designated area of beach just for them,” he added.

While the 10Best Readers’ Choice Award contest lives on 10Best.com – a standalone travel media site – it’s promoted across USA TODAY Travel Media Group’s digital and mobile products, as well as via social media. 10Best.com provides users with original, unbiased, and experiential travel content of top attractions, things to see and do, and restaurants for top destinations in the U.S. and around the world.

Nominees for all categories in USA TODAY’s 10Best are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant expert contributors; and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties.

The Wildwoods Dog Beach is a designated dog-friendly beach on Poplar Avenue in Wildwood where dogs, along with their owners, are able to enjoy a fun-filled day at the beach. Tails have been wagging as dogs make their way across the Boardwalk and onto the sand and past the 25-foot-tall Fire Hydrant Sculpture at the entrance to the Dog Beach. The block-and-half-long, 190-yard-wide area is open from 6 a.m. until dusk and the beach is well equipped with furry-amenities including water stations, signs telling doggy owners to clean up after their loved ones and plastic bags for scooping up after their pets.
