Thousands of Ducks Set to Race in Morey’s Lazy River During New Wildwoods Fundraiser

WILDWOOD, NJ — The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce Foundation, in partnership with Morey’s Piers & Water Parks and Pig Dog Beach Bar, is excited to announce the inaugural Pig Dog Regatta & Beach Party, a family-friendly fundraiser that brings back one of The Wildwoods’ most beloved traditions, with an exciting new twist.

For many longtime residents and visitors, the annual Rubber Ducky Race was a favorite summer tradition that combined family fun with charitable giving. Nearly two decades later, the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce Foundation is reviving that excitement and creating a new signature event designed to entertain families while supporting educational programs that benefit businesses and children throughout The Wildwoods.

On Friday, August 21, 2026, Morey’s Piers’ Raging Waters Water Park will transform its popular lazy river into a racing venue as lifeguards release up to 3,000 numbered rubber ducks into the water. As the ducks make their way around the lazy river, participants will cheer on their entries in hopes of crossing the finish line among the first 25 ducks.

Each duck is matched to a corresponding raffle ticket number. Throughout the summer, raffle tickets will be available for purchase at participating local businesses, community events, and the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce office. Tickets are $10 each and include a souvenir rubber duck that participants can keep.

Only 3,000 raffle tickets and souvenir ducks will be available for the 2026 event but donations for the Chamber’s Foundation will also be welcomed and appreciated.

Participants whose ducks finish among the first 25 racers will have the chance to win an exciting lineup of prizes, including:

• Prize baskets from local businesses
• A television
• A beach cruiser bicycle
• Cape May Day Spa gift cards
• Morey’s Piers ride and water park passes
• And additional prizes to be announced

“Morey’s Water Parks are known for their thrilling slides and splash-filled attractions, but countless visitors also enjoy relaxing along the lazy river,” said Tracey DuFault, President of the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce. “We thought there was no better place to bring back the excitement of a duck race while creating a fun new fundraising tradition for families visiting The Wildwoods.”

Following the race, ticket holders are invited to continue the celebration at Pig Dog Beach Bar for the official Pig Dog Beach Party. The evening will feature food and drink specials, live entertainment, beachside fire pits, and will conclude with The Wildwoods’ spectacular 10 PM Friday Night Fireworks display over the beach.

“The business community is the backbone of The Wildwoods, and education remains one of the most important investments we can make in our future,” continued Tracey DuFault.  “The Pig Dog Regatta and Beach Party brings together local businesses, visitors, families, and community partners for a fun-filled event that directly supports programs designed to educate, develop, and strengthen our local workforce and business community. We are grateful to Morey’s Piers and Pig Dog Beach Bar for helping bring this exciting new tradition to life.”

“At Morey’s Piers, we’re always looking for new ways to create memorable experiences for families while giving back to the community that has supported us for generations,” said Kyle Morey, Director of Marketing for Morey’s Piers. “The Pig Dog Regatta & Beach Party brings together family fun, friendly competition, and community spirit in a unique way. From watching the ducks race around the lazy river to enjoying live music, great food, and the atmosphere at PigDog, it captures the energy and excitement guests experience throughout the summer. We’re proud to partner with the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help support educational programs and community initiatives that strengthen The Wildwoods, and we’re excited to join them in introducing what we hope becomes a new local tradition.”

With only 3,000 ducks available, organizers encourage participants to secure their ducks early.
