Celebrating 40 Years in 2026
The Wildwoods, NJ – April 28, 2026 – The Wildwoods kick off Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of summer with the 40th Annual Wildwoods International Kite Festival on Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25. This Wildwoods’ tradition is the largest kite festival in North America and features long festival features kite makers from around the world flying their most incredible colorful creations over the Wildwoods’ FREE white sandy beaches.
The Kite Festival is FREE to spectators and kicks off on Friday, May 22 at noon. Kite festivities follow with the opening of the Kite Sales Tent, a Friday night kite social, and the 9 p.m. illuminated kite fly at the Rio Grande Avenue beach behind the famous ‘WILDWOODS’ sign.
The Kite Festival continues Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, starting at 9 a.m. daily with fun events geared toward introducing new folks to the sport of kiting! Saturday includes the Silent and Loud Auctions which are open to all, while Saturday and Sunday include the flying of large inflatable kites, team flying, as well as family games. Monday, May 25 features the World Indoor Kite Exhibition inside the Wildwoods Convention Center.
