The Wildwoods, NJ: Where Sun-Filled Fun Awaits

The Wildwoods, NJ – April 9, 2024 – The Wildwoods, NJ are bursting with attractions from the beach and boardwalk to amusement parks, events and festivals, beach concerts and live entertainment, boating, watersports, bike paths, and much more – making the resort destination one of the most sought-after places to vacation at the New Jersey Shore.

Consistently named among the country’s top beaches, the Wildwoods are known for their five-mile stretch of FREE, soft white sand, known as sugar sand, offering plenty of room for summer beach activities. Beachgoers can choose a relaxing day in the sun, or more action-packed activities like surfing, boogie boarding, boating, jet skiing, paddle boarding, and kayaking in the crisp, clean ocean waters. Plus, a dog-friendly beach and dog park at Glenwood Avenue Beach ensures visitors can bring along their four-legged friends while vacationing in the Wildwoods.

The Wildwoods also host numerous events and festivals on its beaches and throughout the island including the Barefoot Country Music Fest, International Kite Festival, the National Marbles Tournament, Monster Truck Beach Races, Vintage Auto and Motorcycle Beach Drag Races, Classic Car Shows, Sand Sculpting Festival, Italian Festival, Irish Festival, BBQ & Blue Festival, Seafarers Festival, major beach concerts, sporting tournaments, weekly free outdoor concerts and many more.

In addition to the award-winning free beaches and over 160 events and festivals held each year, the world-famous Wildwoods Boardwalk is a summer “must” for visitors. This ‘2-1/2 miles of smiles’ features three amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions, three beachfront waterparks, arcades, carnival games, shops, and eateries. In fact, the Wildwood have more retail shops and restaurants than the Mall of America.

Thrill-seekers can venture down the Boardwalk to Morey’s Piers, one of the largest seaside amusement parks in the world, featuring lots of attractions including kiddie rides, family rides, thrill rides, and many other fun activities. There are four exciting coasters that are sure to thrill even the bravest roller coaster enthusiast: the Sea Serpent, the Great Nor’easter, the Great White, and the Runaway Tram.

Vacationers are also encouraged to take advantage of the Wildwoods’ ‘Bikeability’ with a scenic 12-mile round-trip bike path – stretching from the Wildwood Crest Dunes Bike Path, up onto the Wildwoods Boardwalk to North Wildwood’s Mulberry Bike Path, to the North Wildwood Sea Wall. Wildwood vacationers have the option of a leisurely, or athletic, bike ride throughout the Wildwoods. There are also many bike rental shops all along the Boardwalk and throughout the island where visitors can rent any type of bike.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Being situated between the ocean and the bay provides some of the best wildlife habitats in the region. Visitors can take a bike ride around the island to see all the wildlife and plant life on the dunes; and explore wildlife management areas and wetlands, where they can learn more about the shore’s one-of-a-kind ecosystem.

The proximity to the ocean and bay is also great for fishing, and crabbing. Fishing enthusiasts can spend the day at the Intracoastal Waterway – known locally as “the back bay,” or at the designated beaches along Hereford Inlet in North Wildwood for surf fishing. Fishing charters for deep sea fishing, or boat rentals to fish the back bays, are also available.

Crabbing in the Wildwoods is another beloved shore activity. Those looking to catch their evening crab feast are frequently spotted along the wetlands area entering the island and at street ends or on docks along the back bay.

The Cape May National Wildlife Refuge is a local hot spot for crabbing. The Refuge is located along the creeks in the marshlands on Ocean Drive between Cape May and Wildwood Crest. Lakeview Docks at Sunset Lake off Park Boulevard in Wildwood Crest has a magnificent pier for fishing and crabbing. Boat rentals are also available.  For those who would like to crab from the shores of the Wildwoods, there are lots of hot spots from which to choose all along the back bay.

With so much to see and do, the possibilities for fun are endless – making the Wildwoods truly the ultimate vacation experience for the entire family at the Jersey Shore.
