The Wildwoods, NJ – September 8, 2026 – As the summer crowds fade and the weather remains just as beautiful, many gather for surf fishing competitions on the five-mile beach this September. The Wildwoods are a popular location for fishing year-round with deep sea fishing, spots along the back bay, on docks or at street ends, as well as plenty of beaches along Hereford Inlet in North Wildwood where fishing enthusiasts gather for surf fishing.
The North Wildwood Recreation Department Surf Fishing Competition will take place September 11-13, 2026. Registration will be held at the Gazebo at 3rd and JFK Blvd. in North Wildwood, and there is a $15 participation fee. The tournament takes place Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Prizes will be awarded at the closing of the tournament on Sunday for adult and youth divisions.
