The Wildwoods: More Than Just Beach & Boardwalk

With over 9 million visitors each year, the Wildwoods are one of the top family vacation destinations in America!

The Wildwoods free beaches, often voted as among the best in the country, stretch on for five expansive miles — making them the largest and widest at the Jersey Shore. And overlooking it all…the world-famous Wildwoods Boardwalk with 38 blocks packed end to end with shops, waterparks, eateries, entertainment and amusement piers.

BUT, did you know the Wildwoods are more than just beach and boardwalk? See for yourself all we have to offer {it’s much more than you might think!}

LOCAL SPIRITS: The Wildwoods are in the midst of an ever-burgeoning wine country – just minutes from six impressive vineyards producing some of the area’s finest wines. The micro-brewery scene in and around the Wildwoods is exploding as well with a number of craft breweries offering an outstanding selection of some of the finest brews on the east coast. In addition to the many fine breweries, many distilleries offering finely crafted spirits have proliferated throughout the area serving up everything from vodka, rum, bourbon, gin and more. Cheers!

JERSEY FRESH FARM MARKETS: More than just great beaches, the Jersey Cape is home to dozens of large productive farms that provide Jersey Fresh produce for stores, restaurants and farm stands throughout the county.  Spend some time driving along the rural mainland roads where you will readily see open fields of corn, tomatoes, peppers, melons squash, soy and more growing among the lush landscape.

CAPE MAY COUNTY PARK & ZOO: It’s nearly 80 acres in size, with 200 different species of animals, birds, amphibians and reptiles in its collection of over 550 animals. Within the park grounds are picnic areas, nature trials, playgrounds, bike paths and more. Complete with food court, gift shop, and train and carousel rides, the best part is admission is completely FREE!

TEE TIME: Championship golf courses can be found all throughout southern Cape May County and offer a variety of playing levels from beginner to scratch golfer. Seven courses are just minutes away and situated close to the ocean or bay; so there’s always a mild breeze, plenty of scenic beauty, and lush, well-kept greens and fairways. Fore!

HISTORICAL ATTRACTIONS: Take a step back in time! The Wildwoods have several historical museums, with FREE admission or a small optional donation. Inside, these museums tell the celebrated history of the five-mile island, from its origins to the present. Enjoy the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, the Wildwood Historical Society’s Boyer Museum, the National Marbles Hall of Fame, the Doo Wop Experience Museum and more. FUN FACT: The Wildwoods are home to the largest collection of mid-20th century architecture in the country!

FESTIVALS & EVENTS: The Wildwoods are the event capital of the east coast with over 160 festivals and events each year – many of them FREE! From Italian and Irish ethnic festivals to Classic Car Shows, music and food festivals, Monster Truck and Vintage Car & Motorcycle races on the beach, the International Kite Festival, Wildwoods’ Baby Parade, the Fabulous ‘50s Celebration and many more.
