Beschen-Callahan Memorial Lifeguard Races

The Beschen-Callahan Memorial Lifeguard Races in North Wildwood is a highly anticipated annual event that showcases the skills of lifeguards from across the region. The races are held on the North Wildwood beach at 15th Ave. and start at 6 p.m. Held in honor of two local heroes, Charlie Beschen and John Callahan, who tragically lost their lives while serving as lifeguards, the races feature intense competition in various ocean rescue challenges. Lifeguards participate in events such as swim races, paddleboard contests, and running races along the beach, all designed to test physical endurance and life-saving abilities. The event not only highlights the strength and agility of these professional athletes but also serves as a celebration of their commitment to safety and service along the Jersey Shore. Free to attend! For more information, call 609.522.7500 or visit NorthWildwood.com.
